The deadline for renewing your Tax Credits is 31st of July - only a few days away! So if you haven't already done so, be sure to renew your Tax Credits. You can do this online to save time! If you don't renew by the 31st of July, your Tax Credits will stop!
You should also be aware that if your child is in receipt of DLA, you are entitled to an extra element of Tax Credits (a "Disability Element") which means that your Tax Credits payments will increase. You need to call the Tax Credits Helpline to let them know about your child's DLA in order to receive this extra element.
If you've recently been awarded DLA, call up straight away - if you inform Tax Credits within one month of the award, your extra Tax Credits can be backdated to the start of your DLA claim! After this, Tax Credits can only be backdated for one month.
Also, if you weren't previously entitled to Tax Credits due to your income, the threshold for Tax Credits is increased when your child receives DLA - so call to ask if you may now be entitled to a little extra help!
