If you have concerns about your toddler's development, particularly if you're worried they're not meeting their developmental milestones, you might want to take the M-CHAT (Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers) screening test for your child.

A form of this test is often administered by Health Visitors around the time of your child's 2 year old check up, and is a quick, simple questionnaire to assess their development and potential risk for Autism spectrum conditions.

Depending on the results of the test, your child may be found as having Low, Medium or High risk of autism. The M-CHAT serves as a tool to help professional involved in your child's well-being to decide quickly if further investigation or early intervention is needed.

An interactive version of the M-CHAT can be found on the Autism Speaks website - after taking the test, you can print off the results to show your your Health Visitor or other professionals.

A more in-depth version, including follow-up questions, can be downloaded from the official M_CHAT Website. This version is much more in-depth with information to help health professionals analyse and act upon the results of the test.

If you do suspect your toddler may have developmental delays or could be on the autistic spectrum, be sure to seek professional advice! You can always print off the results of these free tools to take with you to appointments , and be assured that early intervention helps to ensure the best outcomes our children.
