Vibration alarms are a super simple (and cost-effective) tip to alert you of doors and windows being opened. These cost only a few pounds each (perhaps even less if you're able to find good ones on eBay!) and can be installed in a matter of moments using strong adhesive strips - you don't need to drill holes into your uPVC door and window frames!

This the window alarms are set off by vibration, which can alert you to a child trying to open a window, while the door ones can usually be set to chime or screech (so you can choose a more subtle alert during the day when you may be opening the door yourself). They're usually sold as a burglar deterrent, but are fantastic repurposed as child-safety alerts!
