On the Gov.UK website, you can find a list of all official policies and documents relating to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You might find this useful for a number of reasons, such as when completing an application for an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP) or to check funding principles for post-16 education.
Particular documents of interest include:
- The 2010-2015 Government Policy for SEND
- The SEND Code of Practice (often referred to as SENDCOP)
- SEND: Guide for Parents and Carers
- Section 41 Secretary of State List of approved independent schools - independent schools which subscribe to a code of duty in regards to SEND's, which may prove helpful when trying to find a suitable placement for your child with autism.
These policies are subject to change, and since we have a newly elected government we should expect to see a new overall Government policy for SEND published soon.
