Get a (potentially free) Access Card - And discover Accessible Sheffield!

1 comment :

The Access Card is a nationwide scheme to translate disability / impairment into symbols which highlight the barriers faced and the reasonable adjustments needed. Some establishments are now using the card to passport the need to provide evidence (such as DLA entitlement and NHS letters) which can make it easier to get discounted entry tickets for your child or as an accompanying carer.

The Access Card scheme is rolling out nationwide and Sheffield Council are funding 1,000 FREE!!!

To apply for a (potentially free) Access Card from Sheffield City Council, you will need to fill in the form on this page.

Usually, the card costs £15 for three years, but for a limited time it will be free for those living in Sheffield.

If you need any help with the form or encounter any problems, here are the contact details for the team dealing with applications:

The Centre for Independent Living
The Circle
33 Rockingham Lane
Sheffield

This promotion is part of a wider scheme called Accessible Sheffield: a partnership between DisabledGo, Sheffield City Council, Disability Sheffield and the Access card, working towards making Sheffield a more accessible City for disabled people.

Most notable is the project organised by DisabledGo which aims to produce an access guide to over 1000 venues in Sheffield. You can check out the current list of venues on the DisabledGo page for Sheffield.

We hope that you and your special children will find the Access Card and services promoted by Accessible Sheffield are helpful and fun! Let us know what you think (and whether your free Access Card application was successful) in the comments below or by joining the discussion on our Facebook page.
