Dimensions offer Autism Friendly screenings at cinemas across the UK in partnership with certain cinema chains including Odeon, Vue and Cineworld.
These special screenings are adapted to be less stressful for those on the autism spectrum:
- The lights will be on low
- The volume will be turned down
- There will be no trailers at the beginning of the film
- You'll be able to take your own food and drinks
- You'll be able to move around the cinema if you like

Don't forget your CEA Carer Card (or apply for one if you plan to go regularly!)
The CEA Carer card is one of the ways for participating cinemas to ensure they make reasonable adjustments for disabled guests when they go to the cinema; in particular it ensures a complimentary ticket for someone to go with them.
It costs £6 for the card (valid for one year) and is available to anyone over the age of 8 years old (as those younger would probably need an adult to visit the cinema with them whether or not they have a disability).
You can apply for the card online or by post. Full details about the CEA Carer card and how to apply can be found on the official website.
We hope you find this list of Autism Friendly screenings useful! If you know of any other events which would be perfect for our special children, please do let us know so we can spread the word!
