Did you know that if you're involved in an EHC Plan, you are entitled to n Independent Supporter to help you through the process?
From 1st September 2014, Independent Supporters within each local authority will assist parents and young people through the EHC planning process. Here in Sheffield, this independent service is provided by Core Assets with assistance from Sheffield SENDIAS (formerly Parent Partnership), who aim to provide parents, carers and children with the impartial information, help and support they need to progress through the new SEN/D assessment and planning process.
Core Assets are an independent organisation and will provide time limited support of up to eight hours in relation to the EHC needs assessment and planning process. Referrals can be received direct from professionals and self-referrals from parents and young people.

- Help you understand letters and reports
- Help you check the draft EHC plan before it is finalised
- Act as an independent or impartial contact person throughout the EHC assessment and planning process
